Transform Your Look with Hair Extensions
The Hair Extensions Transformation Guide
How Bellami extensions add instant length, volume, and confidence — and what to expect at your appointment.
There's a reason hair extensions are one of the most requested services at Tangerine Salon: nothing else delivers the same instant transformation. In a single appointment, you can go from fine and flat to full, flowing hair that moves, holds a style, and photographs beautifully — without waiting months for natural growth. And because our stylists are certified Bellami Professional extension specialists, every installation is customized to your hair type, color, and lifestyle.
Whether you've been considering extensions for the first time or you're ready to switch methods, this guide walks you through the Bellami techniques we offer, what a real transformation looks like at Tangerine, how to care for your extensions at home, and what makes professional installation at a certified salon worth every penny.
The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders wear Bellami Professional extensions installed by Tangerine Salon — the same methods, the same products, and the same stylists available to every guest at all five of our DFW locations. See how extensions play a central role in DCC Makeover Day.
Three Bellami Methods. One Perfect Fit.
Not all extensions are created equal, and the right method depends on your hair's texture, density, and your daily routine. Our certified Bellami stylists evaluate all of this during your complimentary consultation before recommending a method. Here's what we offer across all five locations.
Our most popular method. Thin, hand-sewn wefts are attached to a beaded row for a flat, undetectable result with maximum movement and volume.
Best for: Medium to thick hair wanting volume + lengthMedical-grade polyurethane tape sandwiches your natural hair between thin wefts. Lightweight, quick to install, and gentle on fine hair.
Best for: Fine hair wanting fullness without weightStrategic placement adds density and thickness without dramatic length. Ideal for clients who want their natural hair to look fuller and healthier.

What to Expect at Your Extension Appointment
Every Bellami hair extension journey at Tangerine Salon follows the same four-step process — whether you visit our Dallas flagship, our Frisco location at The Star, or any of our five salons.
Step 1: Complimentary Consultation
Your stylist assesses your hair's texture, density, and current condition. You'll discuss your goals — more length, more volume, or both — and your stylist will recommend the best Bellami method for your hair type. You'll also receive a transparent quote and get color-matched before anything is ordered. This consultation is always free and always in-person, because hair color matching requires seeing your hair in natural light.
Step 2: Custom Color Matching
This is where Tangerine's dual expertise in Aveda hair color and Bellami extensions becomes a real advantage. If your extensions need to match a custom balayage or a dimensional highlight, our colorists can tint the extensions to blend seamlessly — something most salons can't do in-house. The result is invisible blending from day one.
Step 3: Installation Day
Depending on the method, installation takes between 45 minutes and 3 hours. Hand-tied weft installations are the most involved but deliver the most dramatic results. Your stylist places each weft with precision, then completes the look with a custom cut and blowout so the extensions integrate perfectly with your natural layers.
Step 4: Home Care Education
Before you leave, your stylist walks you through everything you need to know: how to brush (always with a Bellami boar-bristle brush, starting at the ends), how to wash (sulfate-free shampoo, no products near the attachment points), how to sleep (loose braid or low ponytail), and when to come back for your move-up appointment. We also recommend Aveda's Botanical Repair™ line to keep both your natural hair and extensions in peak condition between visits.

Extensions + Color: Better Together
One of the most common questions we hear is whether you can get extensions and color in the same appointment. The answer is yes — and it's actually the ideal approach. When your colorist and extension specialist coordinate from the start, the color flows seamlessly from your natural hair through the extensions. There's no visible color break, no mismatched tone at the weft line.
This is exactly how we handle the DCC makeover: custom Aveda color first, then Bellami extensions custom-tinted to match, then a precision cut to unify everything. The same process is available to every guest. Many of our clients pair balayage at our Frisco salon or balayage in Coppell with a full set of hand-tied wefts for maximum impact. Read our balayage vs. highlights guide to decide which color technique pairs best with your extensions.
Caring for Your Bellami Extensions
Extensions are an investment, and proper care is what protects that investment. The good news: the daily routine is simple once you know the basics. Here are the non-negotiables our certified Bellami stylists share with every client.
Brush daily — the right way. Use a Bellami boar-bristle brush or a loop brush. Start at the ends and work up. Brush on top of and underneath the wefts to gently remove natural shed hair that can tangle around the attachment points.
Wash with intention. Use sulfate-free, alcohol-free shampoo and conditioner. Avoid applying conditioner directly to the bonds, tapes, or weft attachment areas — focus on the mid-lengths and ends. Our stylists recommend Aveda's Color Conserve™ or Botanical Repair™ shampoo for both your natural hair and extensions.
Sleep smart. A loose braid or low ponytail prevents tangling overnight. Some clients prefer a silk pillowcase for extra protection — it reduces friction and helps your extensions (and your natural hair) stay smooth.
Keep your move-up appointments. As your natural hair grows, the extension attachment point shifts downward. Regular move-up appointments at Tangerine — every 6 to 12 weeks depending on your method — keep your extensions secure, comfortable, and invisible. Book your maintenance appointments at any of our five locations: Coppell, Frisco, Dallas, Allen, or Highland Village.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will hair extensions damage my natural hair?
Not when installed and maintained by a certified professional. Bellami's attachment systems — beaded rows for hand-tied wefts, medical-grade tape for tape-ins — are designed to hold securely without putting stress on your natural hair. The key is proper placement, appropriate weight for your hair density, and keeping your move-up appointments on schedule. Our Bellami-certified stylists evaluate your hair's health before every installation to ensure it can support the extensions comfortably.
How long do Bellami extensions last?
The hair itself can last 6 to 12 months or longer with proper care. The attachment needs refreshing every 6 to 12 weeks depending on the method — hand-tied wefts go the longest between move-ups. During a move-up appointment, your stylist repositions the existing extensions closer to your scalp as your natural hair grows, extending the life of the set.
Can I get extensions if I have fine or thin hair?
Yes — this is actually one of the most common reasons clients come to us. Tape-in extensions are specifically designed for fine hair because they distribute weight evenly across a thin, flexible tape strip. Volume Fill is another excellent option for fine-haired clients who want targeted thickness without dramatic length. Your stylist will assess your hair during the complimentary consultation and recommend the safest, most effective method.
How do I choose between hand-tied wefts and tape-ins?
It depends on your hair type and goals. Hand-tied wefts deliver more volume and are ideal for medium to thick hair. Tape-ins are lighter, faster to install, and better suited for fine hair. Many clients start with tape-ins and eventually transition to hand-tied wefts as they become more comfortable with extensions. Your Bellami-certified stylist at Tangerine will walk you through both options during your consultation.
Can I style my extensions with heat tools?
Yes. Bellami Professional extensions are made from 100% Remy human hair and can be curled, straightened, and blown out just like your natural hair. We recommend using a heat protectant — Aveda's Damage Remedy™ spray works well — and keeping temperatures below 350°F to preserve the hair's longevity and shine.
What's the difference between salon extensions and DIY clip-ins?
Clip-in extensions are temporary — you put them in and take them out daily. They're great for a single event but impractical for everyday wear. Professional Bellami extensions installed at Tangerine are semi-permanent: you wear them 24/7 for weeks at a time, they blend invisibly with your natural hair, and they're customized to your exact color and density. The result looks and feels like your own hair grew overnight.
