Extension Care & Maintenance Guide
Protect your investment. Our certified specialists have assembled expert care instructions for every extension method we offer — from Sew-In Wefts and Tape-Ins to K-Tip and I-Tip extensions.
Universal Care Principles
These guidelines apply to all Bellami extension methods. Scroll down for method-specific instructions tailored to your installation.
Daily Brushing
Use the Bellami Boar Brush daily. Always start at the ends and work upward — never brush aggressively from root to tip. Gather hair into a ponytail before brushing to minimize tension on attachment points.
Sulfate-Free Products
Use only sulfate-free, paraben-free shampoo. We recommend Aveda Nutriplenish™ to keep extensions hydrated. Avoid applying conditioner or oil-based products directly at or near the attachment points.
Sleeping & Protection
Gently brush and loosely braid your hair before bed. Never sleep with wet hair — it causes tangling at the scalp. Use a silk or satin pillowcase when possible to reduce friction.
Weft Extension Care
Brushing
- To keep hair tangle-free, brush daily with the Bellami Boar Brush.
- Gather your hair into a ponytail. Start brushing the ends, working your way up toward the scalp.
- Brush on top and underneath the weft to help remove the natural shed.
Washing
- Brush your hair before washing to remove any knots or tangles.
- You can section your hair or use multiple ponytails to wash it in parts.
- Wash in lukewarm water, gently massaging a hydrating, sulfate-free shampoo into your scalp in a "z" pattern.
Conditioning
- Apply conditioner from mid-length to ends, leave on for 2–3 minutes, then rinse thoroughly.
- NOTE: Conditioner or silicone-based products at or near the attachment points may make wefts slide out.
Drying
- Apply leave-in conditioner, heat protectant, or treatment oil from mid-length to ends.
- Before using a blowdryer, towel-dry or air-dry your hair as much as possible.
- Use cool or warm temperatures when blow-drying near the spine.
Styling
- Bellami hair extensions are safe with thermal tools — always use a heat protectant before styling!
- Set the temperature between 270°F and 450°F, depending on your hair type.
- Infinity Weft: Avoid direct heat on the spine. Maintain a distance of 1–2" with hot tools.
Swimming
- Avoid chemical-based sunscreens — use mineral-based options instead.
- Wet hair with freshwater and apply leave-in conditioner from mid-length to ends. Tie in a loose ponytail or braid.
- After swimming, rinse with freshwater and reapply the leave-in.
Sleeping
- Gently brush your hair and loosely braid it before sleeping.
- Avoid sleeping with wet hair, as it can tangle at the scalp.

- Do not color your hair extensions at home. Consult a certified Bellami Stylist for any color services.
